The Rainhill Trials is a CrossFit Competition organised by Train Manchester. Places at the competition are highly coveted by crossfitters and it is said to be one of the most functional fitness competitions within the UK. The competition has no-pre qualifying events as it is designed to be an ‘open’ competition. The event is open to anybody regardless of experience. Once registered, athletes are entered into a ballot where the lucky 480 chosen athletes are selected at random.
Diverse Trainers at The Rainhill Trials
Once all athletes have been selected they are expected to submit seeding results which allows event organisers to rank them with athletes of a similar level for the competition. On the competition day, dependent on their ranking, they are then entered into one of the four subsidiary competitions Rocket (Elite), Kennedy (Advanced), Rastrick (Intermediate) and Wood (Beginner). This ensures that each athlete has a fair shot at the competition. The trials are ran quarterly meaning that there are 4 different events throughout the year, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Trials. This enables the competition to be more accessible to everybody. The next set of Trials are in February 2017 and our Commercial Manager, James McNeil (Jay) has managed to land himself a spot. Jay has been completing CrossFit for around 9 months now and has begun preparation for the seeding trials which are soon to be submitted at the end of December.
